Job Summary
UNIV‑Signage Technician‑Sign Shop at MUSC Health fabricates, installs, and maintains campus sign systems. Responsibilities may also include master-level brush, roll, spray painting of interior and exterior walls, finishing drywall, and other related duties as needed.
Responsibilities- Maximize use of the AiM work order system (25% of time) for task management and efficiency.
- Perform skilled master brush, roll, and spray painting, drywall, and related tasks with safety and efficiency (20%).
- Troubleshoot sign problems, recommend solutions, report inventory issues, and maintain a clean shop (20%).
- Repair, update, fabricate, remove, and install campus‑wide sign systems using specialized equipment such as engravers, stencil cutters, vinyl cutters, plotters, dolly and cart, and mounting tools (35%).
- A high school diploma.
- Three years of trade experience directly related to signage fabrication and installation.
- Commercial driver’s license (some positions).
- EPA‑approved freon recovery certification (some positions).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and EPA certification.
- Ability to work continuously or frequently in upright, seated, standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, and reaching positions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted and 50 lbs. or more with assistance; carry up to 50 lbs. on ladders, stairs, or flat surfaces.
- Optical and hearing acuity with correction; good peripheral vision.
- Operates winches, come‑alongs, jacks, hand tools, powered tools; qualify for respirator use.
- Ability to work indoors, outdoors in all weather, below ground, in confined spaces, and from elevated areas.
Hourly: $39,764.00 – $73,576.00 per year (University‑05). Scheduled 40 hours per week; day shift.
