Overview
Description Emergency Response Team operators are assigned to a rotational schedule with options for a permanent shift assignment. The team is on duty twenty-four hours a day seven days a week.
Salary Range: $20.80 - $24.63 per hour.
Open Until Filled – Application review begins immediately.
- Perform security, safety, and custodial care of inmates.
- Respond to all emergencies and disturbances within the facility.
- Conduct high visibility patrols and inmate escorts in a safe and effective manner.
- Exhibit reliability and thrive in a team environment; maintain excellent communication and verbal de-escalation skills; make professional decisions in stressful situations.
Attributes
- Complete a basic Emergency Response Team training program.
- Complete training in Housing Units to include Behavioral Management and Special Management.
- Obtain certifications in Firearms, Taser, Oleoresin Capsicum, and Less Lethal Munitions within 90 days of hire.
- Receive over 100 hours of Emergency Response Team training annually.

Skills and Abilities
Requirements
- Twelve months of experience and active certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy as a Class 2 law enforcement officer is preferred but may be waived with prior military, law enforcement or corrections tactical experience.
- Applicants meeting the minimum criteria must submit to and successfully complete all phases of the hiring process including a physical abilities test.
