School Security Officers (SSOs) must possess a security license from the state and are responsible for protecting schools in the district against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, at least five calendar years of verifiable experience as a certified law‑enforcement officer or its military equivalency (with all five years occurring within the last seven years), and general arrest authority.

• First responder to any and all events that occur on campus property.
• Patrol the assigned campus both inside the buildings and the perimeter.
• Be highly visible on campus with a focus on before and after school and at lunch.
• Maintain external security of the buildings.
• Make recommendations to correct identified security issues on campus.
• Observe arrival and departure of students.
• Ensure that no unauthorized individuals gain access to the campus.
• Work with the staff to intervene in situations that can cause disruptions of the learning environment.
• Monitor video surveillance at the school.
• Become a part of the school threat assessment team.
• Develop and foster communication with the patrolling law‑enforcement agency that serves the school.
• Communicate regularly with the site administration as well as the direct supervisor.
• Complete other assigned duties.

• High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Minimum of 21 years of age.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Law Enforcement or Military Police experience of 5 years.
• Reliable phone and transportation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Good work history.
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or lawful resident status.
• Valid driver's license.
• Supporting I‑9 documents.
