GEL Laboratories, LLC, an affiliate of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a skilled Laboratory Analyst to join our team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office to perform complex analytical procedures with specialized instrumentation. As an Laboratory Analyst you will learn to be proficient in gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis (GC/MS) of volatile organic compounds. You must be able to work independently, meeting productivity goals, with minimal supervision.

Laboratory Analysts are cross trained as their skill set grows and may even manage special projects! The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator, excellent in Microsoft Office 365 applications, and understand the basic functions of a chemistry or radiochemistry laboratory.

The Laboratory Analyst will be responsible for:
  • Following complex procedures involving operation and calibration of instrumentation while demonstrating consistent, reliable performance
  • Completing data entry activities, including initial data reduction, and initial data review
  • Performing basic troubleshooting of methods and instrumentation
  • Reviewing peers’ analytical data
  • Communicating with internal and external customers (Project Managers, Clients, or Auditors)
  • Demonstrating and supporting GEL core values
  • Conducting procedures that support other operations in the laboratory

Qualifications for Laboratory Analyst:
  • Bachelor of Science, preferably in Chemistry or Biology
  • Minimum of one year of related laboratory experience
  • Advanced math and computer skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience operating basic laboratory instrumentation and equipment
  • Demonstrates functional knowledge of GC/MS operation and analysis
  • Exhibits organizational skills and attention to detail
  • May work a Monday – Friday schedule or a Tuesday – Saturday schedule
Physical Requirements and Working Environment:

This position requires working in a busy production laboratory successfully processing samples from around the world. Safety is a priority and negligence is not tolerated. Safety equipment is provided, and use is mandatory.
