Overview
Magnolia Plantation & Gardens—one of the oldest historic gardens in the United States—proudly welcomes thousands of guests from around the world each year and is seeking a new Part-Time Gift Shop Associate. This role supports gift shop revenue by creating a welcoming, engaging, and memorable experience for every guest, helping ensure Magnolia remains a must-see destination in Charleston.
What you will be doing- Deliver exceptional customer service by engaging with Magnolia guests, sharing information about promotions and events, and assisting throughout the purchasing process with product knowledge and thoughtful suggestions.
- Use active listening to promptly and professionally resolve guest inquiries, escalating operational or guest-related issues to the management team as needed.
- Accurately process transactions by entering purchases into the point-of-sale system, handling payments, and providing correct change.
- Support daily sales goals while maintaining inventory accuracy, merchandise organization, and strong visual merchandising standards.
- Conduct daily sales floor inspections from a guest’s perspective to ensure safety, cleanliness, and service excellence, and provide recommendations to the Retail Services Manager to enhance the guest experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- You bring exceptional customer service skills with 1–2+ years of experience in a customer-facing role; experience in public gardens or visitor attractions is a plus.
- You understand that extraordinary guest experiences are shaped not just by the products offered, but by how each interaction makes guests feel, and you consistently create immersive, positive experiences from the moment guests walk through the door.
- You have experience using point-of-sale and inventory systems to support guest transactions and merchandising operations.
- Flexible and reliable, with availability to work weekends.

Physical Requirements
- Standing and walking for long periods of time and for the duration of the scheduled shift.
- Lifting and moving merchandise that can weigh up to 20 pounds.
- Climbing and balancing on ladders to retrieve stock.
- Bending at the waist, kneeling, squatting, stooping, or crouching.
- Reaching above the shoulder frequently.
