The Nickel – Rooftop Lounge & Bar
The Nickel, a 50‑room hotel located on bustling Upper King Street, features a modernist arched facade, wrought‑iron balconies, and traditional brickwork that pays homage to the city’s mercantile past as well as its dynamic future. The Nickel will be home to a large rooftop bar and lounge that will soon become one of the city’s most popular gathering spots.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide guests with exceptional customer service
- Passion for food, beverage and hospitality
- Ability to multi‑task in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment
- Commitment to high standards with impeccable attention to detail
- Greet all guests that approach bar, even during off hours
- Strong, upbeat and positive personality
- Set up bar, prep product to match covers plus 5% over
- Provide guidance and clear instruction to barbacks on expectations and needs for the shift
- Include an element of staff education for every lineup
- Offer full service to guests at the bar, incorporating established service standards that guests in the dining room would expect
- Manage service and well drinks, striving for a 4‑minute ticket time
- Own and manage rotation of clean and polished glassware
- Properly handle cash and closing guest tabs
- Keep a clean and properly rotated bar, using older product before moving into fresh prep. Quality check all day‑old stock before using.
- Work clean, as all service areas are within full view of guests
- During down time, check off cleaning duties on weekly cleaning schedule
- On shift change, make sure to restock before clocking out
- At end of night, perform closing duties to completion
- Team‑oriented mentality
- Dependability
- Knowledge of both classic and current food and beverage trends
- Minimum 3‑4 years of bartending experience in a luxury setting
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be a team player with a strong work ethic
- The person having this position may have to stand, walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day.
- Agility in executing fast‑paced movements to navigate different areas of the property efficiently.
- The person having this responsibility may have to move, pull, carry, or lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
