Job Description Summary
RN will work with pediatric and adult congenital cardiology patients for Cath and EP procedures as well as surgical workups and other sedated cardiac cases in the Cardiac Prep and Recovery Unit. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a RN with pediatric ICU or stepdown (preferably cardiac) or pediatric procedural experience preferred. RN will report to the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager.
Job DescriptionUnder limited supervision, this role is responsible for both pre and post-anesthesia care of special cardiovascular, EP, and interventional Cath procedures on a population ranging from the neonate to the geriatric congenital cardiac patient, as well as sedated studies, clinic visits, and cardiac surgical workups. This role commands a strong knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. A minimum of two years' experience as an RN with pediatric ICU or stepdown (preferably cardiac) or procedural care nursing is preferred.
This role reports to the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager.
Current and non-restricted RN license and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) on hire. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within 6 months of hire.
Minimum Requirements & Additional Qualifications- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
- RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details.
- A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
