This is a Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) position for Spring 2026 at Medical University Hospital Authority, providing advanced-beginner level nursing care on neuroscience acute care and step-down units (8W, 9W, 9E). Responsibilities include delivering individualized nursing using the nursing process, managing high-acuity neurologic patients (stroke, neurosurgery, epilepsy), and performing tasks such as monitoring arterial lines, external ventricular drains, and titrating high-alert drips.

Required credentials include RN licensure, BLS, and enrollment/attainment of BSN if applicable; the role involves rotating 12-hour shifts, physical demands, and opportunities for certification and professional development.

8W Neuro Acute Care

8 West is a 24-bed inpatient mixed Neuroscience unit for adult and geriatric patients located in the West wing on the 8th floor of the main hospital. All patient rooms are private. The floor manages a variety of adult Neuroscience Acute Care patients with a focus on Neurosurgical patients including spine surgery, brain tumor resections, surgical stroke patients, and supports the Comprehensive Spine Center program.

The mixed patient population provides a unique opportunity to learn about a variety of neurosurgical interventions in addition to general neurology/medical/surgical patients. 8W also supports our sister units and care for overflow of Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, and neuromuscular diseases. 8W nurses are supported and encouraged to obtain a certification when eligible.

9W Neurology/Neuroscience

9 West is a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology/Medical Stroke/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for adult and geriatric patients located in the West wing on the ninth floor of the main hospital. All patient rooms are private, with one room designated as a reverse air flow room. Nine rooms are hard-wired to accommodate continuous epilepsy monitoring which is a program unique to 9 West.

The floor also manages Medical Stroke patients and general neurology patients including diagnosis such as Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures and strokes managed medically. 9 West supports Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs and accreditation. We support our sister units and care for overflow of neurosurgical patients and spine surgeries as well.

9E Neuroscience Intermediate Care

9 East is a 23 bed Neuroscience step-down unit caring for adult Stroke, Neurosurgery, & Neurology high acuity patients. Nurses manage arterial lines, external ventricular drains measuring ICPs, lumbar drains, and titration of high alert drips. Patient population includes Ischemic strokes and hemorrhagic strokes, tumor resections, spine/neurosurgeries, neuro endovascular interventions and epilepsy. Nurses receive NIHS, ACLS, and EKG certification during orientation and Stroke Certification is a unit Magnet goal.

Staffing ratios are 1:3 or 1:4 based on acuity. 9 East is a fast paced, highly functioning and engaged team.
