Registered Nurse I (Spring 2026 New Grad Blitz) – ART Acute Care & Surgical Acute Care
Join MUSC Health as a Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) and work on our ART Acute Care & Surgical Acute Care units. Under general supervision, you will provide individualized, goal‑directed nursing care to patients and families while collaborating with the health‑care team to achieve desired outcomes.
Responsibilities- Assist with all aspects of nursing care at an advanced beginner level, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Provide patient and family education and support using the nursing process.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and other ancillary staff to coordinate care.
- Utilize the Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) on the ART 6 East unit to monitor patients for changes in condition and participate in rapid response activities.
- Manage patient transitions including discharges, transfers, and post‑operative care workflows.
- Participate in unit shared governance meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; RN with an Associate or Diploma in Nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years of hire and complete within four years.
- Valid RN licensure in South Carolina or from a compact state.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift up to 50 lb. while performing nursing duties.
36 scheduled hours per week. Shifts vary from 3‑ to 12‑hour lengths and are assigned based on departmental needs.
Unit OverviewART 6 East – Surgical Acute Care is located in the Ashley River Tower (ART). Nurses receive education, mentorship, and hands‑on experience in a collaborative environment with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other staff. The unit cares for post‑operative patients such as Whipple’s, splenectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, and colectomies, and works closely with the MSICU and rapid response teams.
ART 6 West – Acute Care is a 21‑bed unit serving general medicine, cardiology, GI surgery, and surgical oncology patients. Typical nurse‑to‑patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:5. The unit emphasizes safety, quality care, and teamwork.
