Job Summary / Purpose The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse I reports to the Wound Care Manager. Under limited supervision, the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse I provides an in‑depth plan of care for patients in a specialty area of wounds, ostomies and continence for all ages (neonate to adult) throughout the organization for inpatients and outpatients. This role coordinates nursing management and collaborates with other health‑care providers to implement programmatic changes.

This position updates clinical practice based on current research and changes in the age and level of development of patients, with consideration of the needs of patients’ families.

• Develop and implement individualized plans of care for WOC patients.
• Select nursing interventions and monitor outcomes.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
• Update clinical practices according to latest research.
• Coordinate patient education and family support.
• Maintain detailed documentation in electronic health records.

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited school of Nursing and at least three years of related clinical RN experience.
• Current South Carolina or compact state licensure as a registered nurse.
• Current CPR card (American Heart Association Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer).
• Current WOCNCB, CWON or WOCN certification with additional Continence and Foot Care Certification (CFCN) preferred. Wound and Ostomy Certification must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with patients, families, physicians and other disciplines.
• Knowledge of consultative and operational processes.
• Willingness to participate in various schedules including on‑call, day, evening, night, holiday and/or weekend rotations or coverage.

Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting and walking continuously. Ability to climb stairs infrequently. Ability to work indoors and in temperature extremes infrequently. Ability to work from elevated areas frequently. Ability to work in confined/cramped spaces frequently. Ability to perform tasks that involve kneeling or bending at the waist. Ability to twist at the waist frequently. Ability to squat and perform job functions frequently.

Ability to perform pinching operations frequently. Ability to perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands continuously. Ability to perform firm grasping with fingers and hands continuously. Ability to perform fine manipulation with fingers and hands continuously. Ability to reach overhead frequently. Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders continuously. Ability to fully use both legs continuously and use lower extremities for balance and coordination frequently.

Ability to reach in all directions continuously. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted infrequently and to lift 50 lbs. from or to floor from or to 36 inches unassisted infrequently. Ability to lift from 36
