Registered Nurse I (Spring 2026 New Grad Blitz) – Main Holding Unit

Join MUSC Health as a Registered Nurse I in the 16‑bed pre‑operative unit of the Main Hospital. Nurses prepare patients for ambulatory or inpatient surgeries in the Main OR, working closely with the OR staff and surgical teams to ensure safe, goal‑directed care.

Under general supervision, the RN I (New Graduate) provides individualized, goal‑directed nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process, interacting with the health‑care team to achieve desired outcomes.

• Assess, plan, and coordinate pre‑operative care for patients scheduled for the Main OR.
• Prepare patients for ambulatory or inpatient surgeries, including IV site placement and critical‑thinking troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with OR staff, surgeons, and anesthesiology to ensure safe, efficient surgical care.
• Monitor patients during the pre‑operative period and document patient status and surgical findings.
• Support patients and families with education and emotional support throughout the pre‑operative process.

• Registered Nurse license in South Carolina (compact state acceptable).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred;
  Associate or Diploma RN with BSN enrollment acceptable.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS required before the end of orientation.
• Strong critical‑thinking skills and IV placement proficiency.
• Prior floor nursing experience (2 years preferred) and ability to work rotating shifts (Mon‑Sun 05:30‑19:00).
• 3‑12 hour shift flexibility with variable shift length based on department needs.

36 scheduled weekly hours. 3‑12 hour shifts, variable shift length. Hourly pay rate type, Health‑27 pay grade.
