Job Description

American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position delivering specialized care to pediatric cardiac patients on a night shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU specializing in care for children with congenital heart disease

• Unit serves as the referral center for pediatric cardiac surgery cases throughout South Carolina

• Typical patient load is 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity, with an average daily census of 26

• Common procedures include cardiac surgery, VAD support, heart transplant, cardiac catheterization, ECMO/CRRT, and pediatric palliative care

• All beds are monitored and equipped for advanced cardiac and ventilatory support

• Night shifts are 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

• Weekend coverage requires 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule, plus a holiday rotation

• Floating within the scope to meet facility needs is required

• Utilizes Epic EMR, with prior Epic experience preferred

• No on-call responsibilities

• Responsible for comprehensive nursing care of pediatric patients post-cardiac surgery and with complex cardiac diagnoses

• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including RNs, patient care techs, secretaries, respiratory therapists, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

• RTO (requested time off) must be declared at time of application; approval is contingent on unit needs and may delay onboarding if excessive

• Locals within a 60-mile radius are accepted at a lower rate

• Block scheduling requests may be considered at management’s discretion

• Scrub attire must meet hospital guidelines

• Orientation modules must be completed prior to start and average 4 hours

• Holiday coverage is required as determined by the rotation

• During hurricane season, staff may be required for emergency response teams

Requirements

• Active SC or Compact Multi-State RN license required

• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience

• Pediatric and cardiovascular experience required

• VAD experience highly preferred

• Certifications required: BLS and PALS from AHA only

• ACLS from AHA preferred

• SSN and driver’s license required for consideration

• Must have separated from MUSC employment (including PRN) for at least 1 year if previously employed
