Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for a Surgical Short Stay/Observation Unit position with night shifts, requiring a SC or compact RN license and 2 years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital Surgical Short Stay/Observation Unit
• Level I trauma center, teaching, and Magnet designated environment
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
• Night shifts: three 12-hour shifts from 7:30 pm to 8:00 am, Monday through Friday
• Weekend rotation required, 2-3 weekend shifts per month
• Potential holiday rotation required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating to similar units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• All modules must be completed pre-start, averaging 4 hours
• Navy blue or royal blue scrubs required; OR scrub access available
• Holiday coverage may be required
• Assignment to emergency response teams possible during hurricane season (June-November)
• RTO must be declared prior to submission; 7 days or fewer of non-holiday RTO may expedite consideration
• Parking permit required, with a one-time registration fee for the designated parking garage
Requirements
• Active SC or Compact RN license required; pending licenses may be considered with proof of application or walk-through eligibility
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience in a similar setting
• Current AHA-issued BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Must provide SSN and driver's license for consideration
• Previous staff (including PRN) must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates within 60 miles classified as local and may be considered at a local rate
