Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.
Job SummaryThe role is based in the West Campus Ambulatory operating room. Working 40 hours per week with shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the RN will coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to support surgical procedures, manage pre‑op and post‑op patient needs, and ensure meticulous documentation.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in an ambulatory operating room setting.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare patients for procedures and monitor postoperative recovery.
- Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, and manage IV lines.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record.
- Ensure compliance with institutional policies, infection control standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Assist in patient education and discharge planning as required.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; RN licensure in South Carolina or a compact state required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
- Minimum of one year of registered nursing experience, preferably in surgical or peri‑operative care.
- Strong knowledge of nursing process, patient safety, and documentation standards.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Capability to manage physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transferring patients up to 50 lb.
- Stand, sit, walk, and perform basic mobility tasks continuously.
- Climb stairs, lift and carry up to 50 lb, and perform repetitive hand and forearm motions.
- Work in confined spaces, handle emergency situations, and maintain situational awareness.
- Maintain good vision, hearing, and general physical conditioning required for patient transfers.
