Job Description

Summary:

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities
  • Operate within the nursing scope of practice to provide high quality care for a broad patient population.
  • Assist in procedure room preparation; maintain sterile technique; administer conscious sedation and other drugs as needed.
  • Monitor patient patterns and vital signs throughout the procedure; oversee the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures.
  • Apply working knowledge and experience in a high-volume procedural environment.
  • Collaborate with the health care team to ensure patient and family understanding of the procedure and plan of care.
Minimum Training and Education

Minimum Training and Education
:
Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.

Telemetry or EKG monitoring required. Emergency, procedural, or ICU experience strongly preferred.

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an AHA-recognized equivalent, or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

firm grasping (Continuous); fine manipulation (Continuous); reach overhead (Frequent); perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows/shoulders (Continuous); use both legs (Continuous); balance and coordination (Frequent); reach in all directions (Continuous); lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted (Infrequent); lift/lower objects 50 lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted (Infrequent); lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs (Infrequent); exert up to 50 lbs of force (Frequent);

maintain vision, color discrimination, depth perception; good peripheral vision; maintain hearing acuity; perform gross and fine motor movements; deal with stressful situations; rotate shifts; work overtime as required; work in a latex-safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; maintain olfactory function (Selected Positions); qualify physically for respirator use as required (Selected Positions).

Examples include: transferring a 100 lb patient; additional assistance required for heavier transfers; lifting requirements to move patients or equipment; other similar physical requirements as detailed in the job description.
