OverviewRN will work with pediatric and adult congenital cardiology patients for Cath and EP procedures as well as surgical workups and other sedated cardiac cases in the Cardiac Prep and Recovery Unit. RN reports to the Pediatric Interventional Cardiology and Imaging Manager.
Responsibilities- Pre- and post-anesthesia care of special cardiovascular, EP, and interventional cath procedures on patients ranging from neonate to geriatric congenital cardiac populations.
- Sedated studies, clinic visits, and cardiac surgical workups.
- Strong knowledge of normal and abnormal cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Under limited supervision, perform nursing duties as required.
- Current South Carolina RN license (or compact state).
- BLS required on hire; ACLS and PALS required within 6 months.
- Minimum two years RN experience in pediatric ICU, stepdown (preferably cardiac), or procedural care nursing.
- Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; associate or diploma RN must enroll in accredited BSN program within two years and obtain BSN within four years of hire.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification required.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking vitals, administering injections, conducting physical exams.
- Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
- Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read charts, documents, and monitors.
- Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, and to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
- Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
- Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
- Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
