Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical unit night shift position requiring a SC or compact RN license and BLS certification.

• Work on a 21-bed Digestive Disease Inpatient Unit at a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet hospital
• Patient population includes adults with complex GI diagnoses, bariatric and autologous islet cell program patients, and occasionally adolescents
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6
• Night shift schedule is 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00pm–7:30am with holiday rotation
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
• Floating to other like units may be required based on facility needs
• Charting is done using EPIC
• Responsible for delivering complex nursing care using a modified modular nursing model
• Works within a collaborative interdisciplinary team
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Block scheduling may be requested but requires manager approval and is not guaranteed
• Royal blue or white tops with royal blue bottoms are required for scrubs
• Holiday coverage is expected as part of the scheduling rotation
• Local candidates within 60 miles may be considered at a lower rate
• During hurricane season (June–November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Time off requests of up to 7 days (excluding holidays) may be auto approved; more than 7 days or holiday RTO requires facility approval
• Parking requires registration and a permit with an associated fee for the designated garage

• Active SC or multi-state/compact RN license required
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg RN experience required
• Completion of pre-start online modules required
• Must provide proof of SSN and driver’s license for consideration
• Previous permanent staff (including PRN) must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
