Overview

Job Description Summary Located on the top floor of the Main Hospital, 10 West is an acute care unit that encourages integrity, teamwork, and professional development. As a 21-bed unit, we accept a range of patients including those involved in car accidents, assaults, and traumatic falls. This high intensity population is accompanied by elective spine surgeries and overflows from the Emergency Department and Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

While technically an acute care unit, our acuity level often feels like intermediate care. The group of strong supportive leaders and kind, welcoming staff make the most demanding days possible.

Responsibilities
  • The Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Nursing. The Manager ensures the provision of the units in collaboration with other health professionals in an environment that is respectful of others, accountable for outcomes and adaptive to change.
  • The Manager is responsible for the planning and comprehensive operations of 6ET on a 24–hour basis.
  • Has hire, fire, or promotion authority.
  • Evaluates and makes improvements to department processes while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Manages initiatives, strategic priorities and programs which have an impact on the organization. Works independently and in collaboration with leadership to support the budget process and meeting key operational goals.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates activities and functions of the department/functional area based on employee/organizational goals.
  • Collaborates with leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance clinical/non-clinical workflows, increase productivity, and improve overall quality outcomes and operational efficiencies within a variety of delivery settings.
Minimum Training and Education
  • Nurse Manager II Minimum Training and

    Education:

    Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) degree and a Master s degree in a related field from an accredited college/university;
    Master of Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of nursing work experience required (three years of nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience). Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.
  • Nurse Manager I Minimum Training and

    Education:

    Bachelor degree in Nursing (BSN), and currently enrolled in Master s program from an accredited college/university. A minimum of five (5) years of nursing work experience required (three years of nursing experience and two years of supervisory experience). Credentials:
    Certification in specialty area preferred or completion within one year of eligibility strongly encouraged.
Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking; climb stairs; work indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes; work from elevated areas; work in confined/cramped spaces; perform various movements including bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, pinching, and fine motor activities; lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted; push/pull as described; maintain vision and hearing within normal ranges; operate in a high-stress environment;

    rotate shifts; work overtime as required; work in a latex-safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions; selected positions may require respirator qualification.
