Overview

Registered Nurse II – Rutledge Tower Ambulatory OR. Rutledge Tower Operating Room has 9 OR suites for adult outpatient and inpatient surgical procedures, serving specialties including ENT, Oral Surgery, Adult Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Plastics, Gynecology, Urology, Pain Management, Orthopedics, Surgical Oncology, Endocrine, Colorectal, and Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS). The OR is open Monday through Friday until 5:00pm and is closed on weekends and major holidays.

Nurses in the OR are trained to circulate and scrub for several specialties. Rutledge Tower OR is a nurse‑driven magnet facility designed to provide excellence in nursing care.

Job Description
  • Hours Per Week: 40
  • Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:30am–5:00pm or 7:30am–6:00pm. No nights, weekends, holidays. Only eye team takes call.
Job Summary /Purpose

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with the health care team to achieve desired results.

Minimum Training and Education

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse is required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).

Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to perform job functions while standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching in various positions. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, and to assist with transfers as needed. Visual and hearing capabilities must be sufficient for safe patient care. Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required. Requires ability to work in a latex‑safe environment and to use respirator if required for selected positions.
