Registered Nurse I (Spring 2026 New Grad Blitz) - Rutledge Tower Holding

Join MUSC Health as a Registered Nurse I in the Rutledge Tower Preop/Holding room. You will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, working in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment, and ensuring high quality, individualized, goal‑directed care.

The Rutledge Tower Preop/Holding room consists of 12 preop bays serving 9 operating rooms. We have a diverse adult patient population with numerous specialties. RNs & LPNs prep patients for surgery who come from home, other facilities, the inpatient floor, or the Emergency department. Holding RNs/LPNs must multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, possess strong critical thinking, IV, and communication skills. The staff works closely with anesthesia, surgeons, residents, OR nurses, and PACU staff.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 05:30‑17:00 (closed weekends & major holidays). BLS & ACLS required.

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients and families using principles and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes.

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
