Travel Registered Nurse – PCU (Progressive Care Unit) Night Shift – Charleston, SC

This travel nursing job offers hands-on experience in a specialized transplant and nephrology unit, caring for pre- and post-operative transplant patients. PCU RN Job Details – Charleston, SC

  • Location:

  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1470–$1570 per week
  • Facility:
    Renowned Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital
  • Unit: 22-bed intermediate PCU/medical-surgical unit (Transplant Renal Nephrology 6E)
  • Employment Type:

    Travel RN (locum tenens)
  • Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00pm – 7:30am); every other weekend & holiday rotation required
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/1/2025 – End: 12/1/2025)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Patient Population:
    Adults and geriatrics, primarily transplant, nephrology, and urology patients
  • Charting System: EPIC
Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact State Registered Nurse License (must be active prior to start)
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience required
  • Certifications (AHA only): ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Clinical skills: blood product administration, central line care/management, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration), rapid response, and computerized documentation
  • Ability to float within scope as needed
  • Willingness to work every other weekend and participate in holiday rotation
  • Completion of orientation and required modules prior to start date
PCU RN Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to pre- and post-operative transplant, nephrology, and urology patients in a fast-paced PCU setting
  • Monitor and manage patients using bedside and central monitoring systems, including stepdown beds for closely monitored transplant patients
  • Administer medications, manage IV lines, and deliver advanced cardiac and respiratory support
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic health records
  • Participate in ongoing transplant-specific education and pursue specialty nursing certifications as encouraged
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and isolation precautions
  • Respond to rapid response and emergency situations as part of the clinical team
