Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN for a Neuro unit night shift role requiring an active SC or compact RN license and at least one year of experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is on a 23-bed inpatient General Neurology/Medical Stroke/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for adult and geriatric patients

• Patient ratio is 1:5

• Unit specializes in neurology, stroke, and comprehensive epilepsy monitoring, with nine rooms equipped for continuous epilepsy monitoring

• Supports Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center programs and may care for neurosurgical and spine surgery overflow

• All rooms are private, with one designated reverse air flow room

• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM

• Requires 4-5 weekend shifts per 4-week period and participation in holiday rotation

• Floating within scope to like units or sister facilities may be required

• Uses Epic EMR

• Provide nursing care to a variety of neurological, stroke, epilepsy, neuromuscular disease, and spine patients

• Participate in a collaborative care environment supporting various neuroscience programs

• Modules must be completed prior to start and average 4 hours to complete

• All employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June to November)

• RTO of 7 days or less (excluding holidays) does not require special approval

• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted at a local rate

• Professional scrubs required

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required

• At least 1 year of RN experience

• BLS certification from AHA required

• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred

• Experience with neurology, stroke, or epilepsy monitoring patients preferred

• First-time travelers are accepted

• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler

• Candidates must provide SSN and driver’s license for consideration
