Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Observation Unit position requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least two years of recent nursing experience.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital-based Observation Unit within a major teaching and Magnet facility
• Night shift schedule of 3x12s from 7:30 pm to 8:00 am with a weekend rotation of 2-3 weekend shifts per month
• Patient ratio is 1:4
• Holiday rotation may be required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to similar units as needed
• Uses Epic EMR system
• Navy blue or royal blue scrubs required
• Position is open to block scheduling requests upon manager approval
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Previous permanent or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for at least 1 year before beginning a travel assignment
• All required modules must be completed prior to start date
• Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
• Time off requests must be submitted with initial application and are subject to approval based on facility needs
• Parking permit available for a $20 registration fee in a designated parking garage
• Local candidates within a 60-mile radius may be considered on a case-by-case basis
Requirements
• Active SC or compact RN license is required for consideration
• Minimum of 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Certifications required: BLS and ACLS (AHA only)
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• Applicants must be eligible to work in a Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital
• Driver’s license and Social Security number required for consideration
