Job Title:
Ship fitter
We are seeking an experienced Ship fitter with a strong experience in commercial and naval shipbuilding. The role requires expertise in fabrication, ship fitting, and the ability to work with various tools and blueprints to contribute to shipbuilding projects.
Responsibilities- Perform fabrication and ship fitting duties as a first-class Ship fitter.
- Utilize tack welding, burning, and torch techniques to complete shipbuilding tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints to guide construction and repair activities.
- Execute arc gouging and grinding as necessary for ship construction.
- Collaborate with the shipbuilding team to ensure projects meet specifications.
- Four years of commercial or naval experience as a first-class Ship fitter.
- Proficiency in single pass tack welding.
- Skill in using an oxygen/propane burning torch.
- Experience with oxygen/propane heating torch techniques.
- Ability to comprehend and work from blueprints.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with shipbuilding and construction techniques.
- Strong understanding of shipyard safety and procedures.
This position involves working in shipyards around the 757 area, initially focusing on projects work environment is hands‑on and requires the use of various shipbuilding tools and equipment. Employees should be prepared for a dynamic and fast‑paced setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
