Job SummaryThe Fire Alarm Supervisor reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager and oversees the operation of the Fire Alarm Shop. The role directs, manages, and supervises the Fire Alarm Systems and staff technicians to ensure compliance with the Joint Commission and federal and state regulations. The supervisor must possess NICET Level I/II certifications or obtain Level I within one year of hire and pursue Level II thereafter.
Key Responsibilities- 30% – Manage daily operation of the Fire Alarm Shop, including workflow, inventory, and maintenance scheduling. Maintain 95% inventory accuracy and complete 100% of preventive maintenance tasks on schedule each month using CMMS. Conduct monthly reviews.
- 15% – Facilitate and supervise all planned outages and contractor work. Provide 100% supervision of contractor activities, conduct pre‑outage assessments, and minimize system downtime. Perform quarterly reviews.
- 15% – Ensure after‑hour staffing for fire alarm emergencies. Maintain a roster of trained staff in a rotating schedule to achieve 100% on‑call coverage and review effectiveness monthly.
- 10% – Maintain Joint Commission compliance by ensuring all fire alarm systems meet standards. Achieve 100% compliance in quarterly and annual audits and perform quarterly checks.
- 10% – Identify short‑ and long‑term maintenance needs. Generate a prioritized list of at least three maintenance projects within 6 months.
- 15% – Strive for zero workplace injuries through enforcement of safety policies, training, and PPE. Conduct monthly safety audits, quarterly refresher training, and aim to reduce incidents to zero within one year.
- 5% – Keep current with industry trends by completing at least two professional development courses or certifications annually and attending one related conference.
High school diploma and four years of professional experience directly related to fire alarm system maintenance. Must obtain NICET Level I certification (within one year of hire) and pursue Level II certification. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lb., work in upright and seated positions, navigate confined spaces, and maintain adequate vision and hearing. A valid driver’s license is required.
