Job Description Summary

The Fire Alarm Supervisor reports to the Facility Maintenance Manager under limited supervision. The supervisor directs, manages, and supervises Fire Alarm Systems and staff Fire Alarm Technicians to assist in the daily operation of the Fire Alarm Shop. The role ensures that fire alarm systems are operated and maintained in compliance with Joint Commission and federal and state agencies. Candidate must possess NICET Level I/II certifications, or obtain NICET Level I certification within one year of hire and actively pursue Level II certification thereafter.

Job Description

The Fire Alarm Supervisor reports to Facility Maintenance Manager under limited supervision. The supervisor directs, manages, and supervises Fire Alarm Systems and staff Fire Alarm Technicians to assist in the daily operation of the Fire Alarm Shop. The role ensures that fire alarm systems are operated and maintained in compliance with Joint Commission and federal and state agencies. Job Duties
  • 30% - Responsible for the orderly management and daily operation of the Fire Alarm Shop.
    • Specific:
      Oversee the daily workflow, inventory, and maintenance scheduling for the Fire Alarm Shop.
    • Measurable:
      Achieve 95% inventory accuracy and complete 100% of preventive maintenance tasks on schedule each month.
    • Achievable:
      Use AiM, the CMMS to track inventory and task completion.
    • Relevant:
      Supports efficient operation and readiness of the Fire Alarm Shop.
    • Time-bound:
      Conduct monthly reviews of inventory accuracy and preventive maintenance completion rates.
  • 15% - Facilitate and supervise all outages and contract work performed.
    • Specific:
      Coordinate and oversee all planned fire alarm system outages and contractor work.
    • Measurable:
      Conduct 100% supervision of all contractor work with outage impact assessments conducted before any planned shutdowns, achieving minimal unplanned system downtime.
    • Achievable:
      Schedule contractor supervision and outage planning as part of regular duties.
    • Relevant:
      Ensures minimal disruption to the facility’s operations and maintains system reliability.
    • Time-bound:
      Start implementing pre-outage assessments immediately, with quarterly reviews to improve contractor coordination.
  • 15% - Ensure staffing for after‑hour Fire Alarm emergencies.
    • Specific:
      Maintain a roster of trained staff for after‑hour fire alarm emergencies.
    • Measurable:
      Achieve 100% on‑call coverage rate, with clear roles and responsibilities assigned for after‑hours emergencies.
    • Achievable:
      Set up a rotating schedule to ensure coverage and adjust shifts as needed to maintain readiness.
    • Relevant:
      Essential to ensure 24/7 response availability for fire alarm emergencies.
    • Time-bound:
      Implement the rotating schedule; include monthly reviews for effectiveness and coverage.
  • 10% - Maintain Joint Commission Maintenance Compliance.
    • Specific:
      Ensure that all fire alarm systems meet Joint Commission standards consistently.
    • Measurable:
      Achieve a 100% compliance rate for all quarterly and annual Joint Commission audits.
    • Achievable:
      Utilize checklists and regular staff training to ensure systems are maintained according to standards.
    • Relevant:
      Compliance is essential to maintain operational accreditation.
    • Time-bound:
      Conduct quarterly compliance checks and prepare for annual audits, aiming for consistent 100% compliance by the end of each audit cycle.
  • 10% - Identify short and long‑term maintenance needs.
