Job Description & How to Apply Below

Maxwood Furniture is a rapidly growing furniture company with an expanding portfolio of brands such as Max & Lily, Plank + Beam, and Maxtrix. Since launching over two decades ago, we have established multiple sales channels including our DTC websites and third-party marketplaces. We’re passionate about creating an inspiring and engaging shopping experience for our customers, bringing their home decor dreams to life with stunning, on-trend pieces.

We are seeking a new member to add to our Development team. Are you ready to be a part of something amazing? We’re looking for an experienced Shopify Designer with deep Shopify experience in a business environment to help design, optimize, and evolve multiple customer-facing e-commerce sites. This role is ideal for someone who has worked on production Shopify stores at scale, understands cross-functional collaboration, and knows how design decisions impact conversion, performance, and revenue.

You’ll work closely with developers, product managers, marketing, and content teams to translate business requirements into polished, conversion-focused, user-centered Shopify experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Design and optimize UI experiences for multiple Shopify storefronts, ensuring consistency, scalability, and pixel-perfect execution across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs that support complex e-commerce journeys (navigation, PDPs, collections, checkout considerations).
  • Build interactive prototypes in Figma to communicate concepts, edge cases, and interactions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are technically feasible within Shopify’s architecture, including theme customization and app integrations.
  • Partner with marketing to design high-impact landing pages, promotional templates, and reusable components.
  • Leverage data, user feedback, and usability testing to continuously improve conversion, usability, and performance.
  • Stay current on Shopify platform updates, advanced features, and e-commerce best practices, including accessibility and SEO.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute thoughtful, business-minded feedback.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of UI/UX design experience in a professional, business setting, with a strong focus on e-commerce.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for live Shopify stores beyond personal or side-project sites.
  • Experience working on multi-page, multi-template Shopify themes and understanding how designs scale across a catalog.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma (components, variants, design systems).
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices for conversion-driven e-commerce.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, marketers, and product stakeholders.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to explain design decisions through a business lens.
  • Portfolio showcasing real-world Shopify or e-commerce work (multi-page flows preferred).
Bonus Points
  • Experience with Shopify Plus and advanced features (custom checkout considerations, scripts, or complex storefront needs).
  • Experience supporting multiple brands or storefronts within the same organization.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (enough to design with technical constraints in mind).
  • Familiarity with user research, A/B testing, or CRO tools in an e-commerce context.
Benefits
  • 401(k) matching
  • Dental insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Employee discount
  • Flexible schedule
  • Flexible spending account
  • Health insurance
  • Life insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Professional development assistance
