Position: Secret Systems Engineer
Location: Charleston, SC - HYBRID AFTER 3 MONTHS
Length: Ongoing Contract
Rate: $100,000 - $130,000
(Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education)
Required Skills
- 5+ years' experience in a systems engineer role automating complex IT infrastructure
- DoD 8140/8570 Certifications to be qualified as an Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II
- Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level Security Clearance or a higher level clearance
- Advanced skills in scripting from scratch and experience automating systems administration tasks using tools like Power Shell
- Experience with Microsoft Power Shell is critical as it is heavily leveraged to automate installation, configuration, hardening, and maintenance tasks
- Domain expertise in Microsoft OS environments and enterprise Microsoft products such as Exchange, SharePoint, SQL and more
- Ability to effectively install, configure, and administer in a multi-system and/or multi-application environment
- Ability to create and test virtualized environments (VMWare, Open Shift, Hyper‑V, AWS)
- Strong documentation and oral communication skills to clearly communicate with all levels of users, engineers, managers, and organizations
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related Information Technology field
- Demonstrated experience with:
Git, Git Lab, Git Lab Pipelines, Artifactory, Confluence and Jira - Ansible development (Inventories, Collections, Roles, Modules, Playbooks, etc.) - Programming/scripting languages (Bash/Python/HTML/etc)
- Knowledge of Data Science pipelines
Job Description
Insight Global is hiring a Microsoft Systems Engineer with a Secret Clearance to join a leading government contractor supporting a program advancing communications and technology for America’s warfighters. This role is primarily focused on advancing automation across the government customer’s Microsoft systems and environment. This will be done via scripting in Power Shell and other tools across the environment. Responsibilities include:
- Develop solutions to automate systems administration tasks including troubleshooting, performing diagnostics, and resolving discovered issues
- Develop automated maintenance scripts that automatically detect issues/anomalies within a datacenter and resolve those issues
- Investigate and resolve issues that span multiple applications/technologies and require involvement from technical personnel across multiple groups
- Develop automated test cases
- Run automated tests, collect results and generate reports
- Provide knowledge in systems engineering and information technology
- Develop and/or revise system designs and architectures to improve efficiency, stability, effectiveness, supportability, and sustainability
- Provide feedback on internal processes and recommendations for improvement
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related taskings as directed
- Provide technical knowledge to design systems that monitor and manage DoD systems
- Prepare technical briefs to present to engineering review teams
- Provide technical knowledge to support and maintain Microsoft and other vendor IT enterprise products
- Install test branches on physical hardware on lab equipment as first level integration tests
- Verify install documentation is executable
