Position: Hotel Shuttle Driver - FT

Residence Inn Charleston Downtown/Riverview, 90 Ripley Pointe Drive, Charleston, SC 29407, USA — The Residence Inn Charleston Riverview is seeking a full-time Hotel Shuttle Driver for their property. The purpose of the Hotel Shuttle Driver is to serve guests in a professional, gracious manner and to perform duties associated with bell staff, including loading, unloading and transportation of guest luggage, escorting guests to and from guest rooms, promoting hotel facilities and demonstrating guest room accommodations, providing information to guests, operating hotel vehicles, and more.

Transport guests in a prompt, friendly and courteous manner using safe driving practices.

Overview

The Beautiful Residence Inn Charleston Riverview is seeking a full-time Hotel Shuttle Driver for their beautiful property. The role involves delivering high-quality guest service, handling luggage, guiding guests, and operating hotel transportation in a safe and courteous manner.

Essential Job Functions
  • Warmly welcome guests, creating a positive first impression of the hotel. Hold doors open for guests.
  • Promote hotel facilities and provide accurate information on hotel facilities, local attractions/events, transportation arrangements and directions around the community.
  • Maintain effective communication within Bell Staff and with all hotel departments. Attend meetings as scheduled. Respond to instructions and suggestions and work to resolve problems. Adhere to arrangements related to special guest needs, large group arrivals, VIPs and special transportation needs.
  • Perform bell staff duties: load and unload guest luggage and belongings from vehicles, escort guests to and from guest rooms, transport luggage to designated areas, navigate bell carts through public areas, demonstrate features of guest rooms and promote hotel facilities, deliver guest faxes and amenities.
  • Complete baggage claim tickets, read and match luggage tags to tickets, and provide guests with their portion of the claim ticket.
  • Organize and store luggage in designated areas.
  • Transport guests to and from designated locations using official hotel vehicles. Operate vehicles safely in accordance with laws and maintain relevant logs and schedules.
  • Properly maintain and clean hotel vehicles; ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Ensure timely delivery of guest luggage, packages, gifts, messages, and newspapers.
  • Follow security procedures for handling guest room keys and guest information.
  • Listen to and promptly address guest problems and complaints.
  • Clean and organize front entrance, bell stand, and bell closet; light daily cleaning as needed.
  • Adhere to traffic regulations and remain calm during emergencies or high hotel activity.
  • Greet customers warmly and communicate clearly about hotel features and services.
  • Lift luggage and packages from vehicles and place them on baggage carts or conveyors as needed;
  • Take part in routine vehicle maintenance and fueling as required.
  • Assist Bell Captain when necessary and assist with laundry delivery to designated locations as directed.
  • Communicate effectively in English (verbal and written) to determine pick-up and drop-off points and assist customers and colleagues as needed.
  • Read luggage tags and claim checks to identify appropriate pickup/drop-off points.
  • Complete a pre-driving checklist daily to ensure proper operation of vehicle systems (lights, brakes, doors, oil, tires, transmission fluid, radiator, fuel).
  • Develop and maintain productive interpersonal relationships with a wide range of individuals.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED or equivalent; must have a valid state driver license.
