Primary Function/General Purpose Of Position
In accordance with the Mission Statement of Roper Saint Francis Healthcare Organization and Vision Statement of the Ryan White HIV Program, the Financial Intake Specialist will schedule patients and manage appointments for providers, oversee and assist with patient flow, routinely review and apply sliding fee scale, collect and monitor patient copays, and contribute to departmental accounts payable processes.
Essential Job Functions- Schedules patients and manages appointments for providers.
- Oversees and assists with patient flow.
- Responds actively and effectively with sensitivity to the needs of internal and external consumers, and portrays a positive, professional image.
- Communicates effectively with providers and clinical team to proactively address patient issues and concerns.
- Routinely reviews sliding fee scales for Ryan White and all other medical assistance programs and monitors patient eligibility accordingly.
- Advise the patient on financial responsibilities for Ryan White and contracted providers.
- Daily oversight and collection of patient copays and maintains a detailed record of funds collected.
- Review department invoices for accuracy and appropriateness and submit check requests as directed.

Licensing/CertificationN/A
Education- High School diploma or equivalent required;
Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred. Courses in accounting or financial management preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience in an administrative/clerical role, accounting, banking, insurance, or similar industry required.
Experience working in a healthcare setting in an administrative role strongly preferred.

Working Conditions- Long-distance or air travel as needed, not to exceed 10% travel.

- Ability to operate various office equipment including personal computers, calculators, photocopiers, telephones, and related devices.
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to effectively communicate with clientele and other personnel, especially medical providers.
- Knowledge of budgeting and accounting procedures for grants/contracts and government regulations relevant to grants/contracts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
