Overview
Seeking a full-time Certified Child Life Specialist to plan, facilitate and assess ongoing psychosocial interventions for patients ages 0-18 on an inpatient medical unit within an adult hospital setting.
Responsibilities- Plan, facilitate and assess ongoing psychosocial interventions for patients and families.
- Address psychosocial, emotional, and family concerns that accompany illness and injury of children and adolescents.
- Utilize developmentally appropriate information, therapeutic play interventions, procedure support, emotional processing and coping strategies to improve the patient and family experience.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to advocate for developmentally appropriate, emotionally safe, family-centered care.
- Develop and maintain resources, educational materials and psychosocial programming for patients, families and staff.
- Master’s degree in Child Life or a bachelor’s degree with Child Life experience, and a 600-hour Child Life internship.
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) designation or eligible.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently.
- Program development experience (preferred).
Education:
High School Degree or Equivalent.
Work Experience:
2 years. This role is on a newly created pediatric unit within an adult hospital.
