Job Summary
Provides safe perioperative patient care in accordance with professional and hospital standards. Supports the surgical team by maintaining asepsis, performing scrubbing duties, and coordinating patient care activities while delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
Assists the RN in planning and coordinating patient care and collaborates with the healthcare team.
Maintains aseptic technique and performs scrubbing duties during surgical procedures (not acting as a surgical assistant).
Communicates patient information to appropriate team members and accounts for all equipment and supplies.
Supports teamwork, resolves problems, and consistently meets customer service standards.
Serves as a clinical preceptor for scrubbing per orientation guidelines.
Maintains cleanliness of the unit and proper use, care, and cleaning of equipment.
Performs additional duties as assigned; limited access to medication rooms with no medication handling.
Requirements
Experience
- Strong Neuro surgical experience (required)
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Physical ability to meet operating room demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs and prolonged standing
Licenses & Certifications
- NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- BLS
Education
- High School Diploma/GED and one of the following:
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist educational program
- Completion of an approved Surgical Technology training program through a U.S. Military Training Program (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard)
