Job Details:

• Work 3x12 hour shifts with rotating schedule - primarily nights (2 months nights 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 1 month days 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM)

• Holiday requirement if contract period includes holidays

• Weekend requirement:
Up to 5 weekend shifts per schedule for nights (Friday/Saturday/Sunday), 4 weekend shifts per schedule for days (Saturday/Sunday)

• Patient ratios vary from 1:1, 1:2, to 1:3 depending on ICU and step-down patient mix

• Float within scope to meet facility needs

• 2 years of PICU experience required

• First time travelers accepted

• ECMO and CRRT experience preferred

• South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license required

• Required certifications: BLS and PALS (American Heart Association only)

• 12 hours of orientation provided

• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks (guaranteed hours policy)

• Care for children ages 0-18 with medical and surgical diagnoses including respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative patients, and neurology/neurosurgery cases

• Work with ECMO, CRRT, ventilatory support, cardiac monitoring, and other complex therapies

• Use EPIC charting system

• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only)

• Complete non-billable modules averaging 4 hours pre-start

• May be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November)

This pediatric medical center operates as a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital with 820 total staffed beds. The facility serves as a teaching hospital and qua ternary referral center for the region, providing specialized pediatric intensive care in a 28-bed unit. The hospital offers comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. The facility maintains advanced capabilities for complex pediatric cases and serves as the primary pediatric trauma center for the state.
