Minimum Training And EducationPatient Care Technician I:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Patient Care Technician II:
High school diploma/GED and ONE of the following requirements must be met.
- Associate or Bachelor's degree
- At least 1 year work experience in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSC CHS
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare facility
- Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
- Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification from an accredited institution
Basic Life Support required within 2 weeks of hire. Thereafter, must maintain Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

(Infrequent); exert up to 50 lbs. of force (Frequent); examples include transferring a 100 lb. patient with assistance; lifting 20 lbs. to move equipment; etc. Vision’s requirements: 20/40 in one or both eyes;
color discrimination; depth perception; good peripheral vision. Hearing and tactile functions maintained. Ability to deal with stress, work rotating shifts and overtime as required; latex-safe environment; respirator qualification as needed.
