Position Purpose
Performs ultrasound procedures at the entry level requiring knowledge of anatomical positioning and physiology. Must be able to perform high quality ultrasound examination for interpretation by a physician on children, adolescents and adults.
ResponsibilitiesPerform ultrasound scans of abdominal, pelvic/OB GYN, scrotal & pelvic doppler, small parts, and elastography. Interpret examinations and provide images for physician interpretation.
QualificationsEducation:
Graduation from an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Experience:
One year experience performing ultrasound scans preferred. 0-2 years required.
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (S) or certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
- Continuous: 6-8 hours per shift; perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing ladders/step stools, working indoors, from elevated areas, in confined spaces, kneeling, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, pinching, using hands/arms, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using legs, reaching in all directions, finger dexterity, tactile sensory functions, olfactory sensory function, lift up to 200 feet, 50#, assist lift patients, move patients to 350#, push/pull objects, 350#, maintain 20/40 vision, correct, see at hand, see at distance, match colors, determine distance, depth perception, peripheral vision, maintain hearing acuity, understand whispered conversations at 3 feet, gross motor functions with fine motor movements, respirator use qualification.
- Frequent: 2-6 hours per shift; perform job functions while standing, walking, working from step stools, working in confined spaces, kneeling, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, pinching, using hands/arms, repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, using legs, reaching in all directions.
- Infrequent: 0-2 hours per shift; perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, using hands/arms, using legs, reaching in all directions.
Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Computer literacy. Ability to work overtime as required. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, equipment as required.
