The Emergency Department Technician II reports to the Nurse Manager. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Emergency Department Technician II performs multi‑skilled activities to support a decentralized patient‑centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required and at least one of the following must be met:
• At least 1 year in a .6 FTE ED Technician I position at MUSC
• Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, CMA, Paramedic, or Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)
• Experience in a military medical occupation
• At least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience
• A college degree
• Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
• Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution

Current Basic Life Support (BLS), either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required and must be maintained.

Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors or outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, and while bending or twisting at the waist. Ability to move and use both legs, maintain balance and coordination, lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, and exert up to 50 pounds of force.

Vision, hearing, and fine motor skills are required. The position may require overtime, latex‑safe environment, and respirator usage as dictated by the department.
