Overview

Physical Therapy Assistant PRN – BG Therapy, Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community, James Island, SC. Bishop Gadsden is a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Located on 134 acres on James Island, about 10 minutes from downtown Charleston. Our health and rehab center aims to elevate how health care is delivered and experienced.

Our Physical Therapist Assistant implements the plan of care as established by the Physical Therapist and Physician in a professional, competent manner, upholding excellence with quality care. Join us in that vision as a Physical Therapy Assistant on a PRN status.

• Screen all residents in the facility on a quarterly basis to identify declines in functional abilities and determine if Physical Therapy intervention is indicated.
• Carry out and identify the need for modification of treatment programs according to the plan of care in consultation with Registered Physical Therapist.
• Monitor and report resident performance and progress.
• Assist Registered Physical Therapist in re-assessment of patients. Assist in determining need for continued services or discontinuation of services based on patient progress.
• Assist Registered Physical Therapist in discharge planning.
• Educate staff, family and care givers as indicated.
• Complete all required documentation according to guidelines specified in Documentation Manual.
• Coordinate in-services for facility staff as needed to ensure safe and effective carry over of Maintenance/Restorative Programs and overall care of the residents.
• Attend all facility required meetings.
• Attend Continuing Education courses specific to current position.

• Associate Degree from an accredited Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant program required
• Must meet all certification and licensure requirements as established by the state and national board associations.
• Familiarity with Rehab Optima, Ultipro, Healthcare Source, Med Bridge, Plan Source, Right Track, PCC and other computer software programs.
• Active South Carolina license required.
• Active CPR certification
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, and lift (up to 50 pounds).
• Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
