Job Duties- Work with collaborative teams to investigate spatial biology using advanced statistical modeling for regional to cellular analysis incorporating mass spectrometry imaging modalities. Develop and validate machine learning algorithms from complex molecular signatures. Individual will be capable of reaching milestone achievements.
- Data reporting. Collaborate with multiple labs and commercial labs for image data integration, processing, and modeling. Familiar with verification and validation procedures.
- Analyze large datasets for patterns, trends, and relationships.
- Communicate findings to collaborative teams through presentations.
- Train students or visiting scholars in data visualization analysis.
- Maintain equipment.
- Keep the lab safe, clean, and compliant by following PPE and MUSC guidelines for safety in the laboratory.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life, or health care science directly related to the assigned area of research and two years advanced journal-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.
Desired Additional Knowledge, Skill, and Ability- Microscopy, high throughput cell assays, westerns, qRT-PCR, cell culture, proteomics, mass spectrometry.
Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift;
Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift;
Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift. Ability to perform job functions in an upright, seated, and walking/mobile position. Ability to climb using step stool. Provide temperature extremes, confined/cramped spaces, bending, twisting, full use of hands and arms, repetitive motions, full use of legs, reach, maintain olfactory function, lift up to 20 lbs., lift and carry waste material, jugs of liquid, file boxes, 40 lbs.
centrifuge rotors, lift boxes, maneuver heavy equipment, gross motor functions with fine motor movements, maintain vision, discriminate colors, hear alarms, hear conversations, work in a darkroom, qualify for respirator use, rotating shifts and overtime. Ability to learn and use new processes, tools, and equipment as required.
