Pathologists Assistant

Overview

Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with a top tier health system near Charleston, SC. We are looking for a talented Pathologists' Assistant, PA(ASCP) to help guide their team to the next level under general supervision of a pathologist. The Pathologists' Assistant independently examines, prepares, describes, and dissects various surgical specimens from simple to highly complex. The PA assists in supervising and training grossing technicians, resident physicians, and pathology fellows in dissection procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities include prioritizing workflow, examination and dissection of routine to highly complex neoplastic cases, submission of tissue for histological analysis, procurement of tissue for ancillary studies, summarizing and dictating medical histories and gross findings, ensuring appropriate specimen accessioning, photographing specimens, and performing frozen sections for pathologists' interpretation.

• Day Shift, Mon-Friday
• Salary: $120,000/yr + DOE

• The Pathologists' Assistant PA(ASCP) provides highly specialized services under the direction and supervision of a pathologist.
• Gross examination and dissection of surgical tissue samples, including complex resections.
• Preparation of tissue for frozen section and other ancillary testing procedures.
• Tissue procurement for clinical trials.
• Training of pathology personnel, including pathology residents.
• Ensuring accurate and timely processing of pathological specimens.
• Prioritizing workflow, examination, and dissection of routine to highly complex neoplastic cases, submission of tissue for histological analysis, procurement of tissue for ancillary studies, summarizing and dictating medical histories and gross findings, assuring appropriate specimen accessioning, photographing specimens, and performing frozen sections for pathologists' interpretation.

• PA(ASCP)
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
