Position Overview
An established engineering organization is seeking a highly experienced Senior Traffic Engineer to lead complex traffic engineering projects, guide multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to organizational standards and long-term strategic initiatives. This role requires exceptional technical expertise, strong leadership, and outstanding communication skills.
Key Responsibilities Technical Engineering- Lead the preparation and review of traffic reports, design plans, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Perform traffic modeling and analysis using tools such as Highway Capacity Software and Synchro/Sim Traffic.
- Develop traffic signal designs, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control (MPT/MOT) plans.
- Create standards, guidelines, and design alternatives that address community input, regulatory constraints, and sustainability.
- Integrate engineering economics and risk analysis into solutions for complex engineering challenges.
- Oversee large and multidisciplinary project teams across all phases of project delivery.
- Recommend staffing, facilities, and funding requirements for programs.
- Manage technical, legal, financial, and regulatory elements of major programs.
- Lead the development of comprehensive project management plans for complex engineering projects.
- Promote principles of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within project teams and processes.
- Provide leadership under broad administrative objectives and strategic direction.
- Mentor and support staff development in technical, managerial, and leadership competencies.
- Evaluate team effectiveness and reinforce professional standards and organizational values.
- Advocate for an inclusive and ethical workplace culture.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical audiences, including negotiation on critical project issues.
- Maintain relationships with key engineers, officials, and partner organizations.
- Represent the organization in strategic interactions among diverse stakeholder groups.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 15+ years of traffic engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Micro Station experience.
- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- PTOE certification.
- Open Roads Designer experience.
- Multi-state P.E. reciprocity
This position can sit out of the Canonsburg, Homestead, Cranberry, or Philadephia office.
