Position: CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER

CIVIL ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER (Full-Time Day Shift)

GEL Engineering, LLC, a member of The GEL Group, Inc., is looking for a highly motivated Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our dynamic team of professionals in our Charleston, SC office as part of the Civil Engineering group. The Civil Engineering Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex civil engineering and site development projects from concept through execution.

This role combines advanced technical expertise with strong project management skills, supporting multidisciplinary teams and ensuring engineering deliverables meet quality, schedule, and cost objectives. The position involves collaboration with clients, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders, as well as mentoring junior engineers. This job requires teamwork, tenacity, and flexibility to meet our clients’ needs safely, and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, designing, and overseeing engineering tasks across all project phases, including feasibility, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinating and managing project scope, budget, schedule, and technical deliverables.
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations, CAD designs, drawings, and specifications in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risks and interface issues across disciplines (civil, geotechnical, environmental, mechanical, electrical, structural, etc.).
  • Managing subconsultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements and project goals.
  • Leading technical meetings, design reviews, and project status updates with stakeholders and clients.
  • Preparing technical documentation including design reports, permit applications, construction packages, and engineering memoranda.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and environmental standards.
  • Supporting construction and field activities by providing technical input, reviewing change requests, and solving engineering problems in real‑time.
  • Participating in business development and client management.
  • Supporting and enforcing Human Resources policies.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer for at least 3 years.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, CAD software (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and/or Revit), and Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam Revu.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with experience preparing and presenting technical content.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
Physical Requirements And Working Environment

Work is performed primarily in the office or on location at commercial, government, and industrial client sites. Travel to client sites, contractor facilities, and industry events is required based on project needs but at a minimum may be 20% of the week.
