Program Summary
K maintains and manages Army prepositioned stocks for the Army Field Support Battalion – Charleston (AFSBn-CHS) located on the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. K occupies over 30 government provided facilities in a 366‑acre industrial complex to provide tactical equipment maintenance, management and storage of Army materiel, and logistical services to include supply and transportation activities. K also provides maintenance services and logistical support for other Army programs, IAW individual scope of work contract requirements.

Job SummaryEngineering Technicians must be able to provide semi‑professional technical support for engineers working in such areas as research, design, development, testing, or manufacturing process improvement. Work pertains to electrical, electronic, or mechanical components or equipment. These technicians are required to have some practical knowledge of science or engineering. Some positions may require a practical knowledge of mathematics or computer science. Included are workers who prepare design drawings and assist with the design, evaluation, and/or modification of machinery and equipment.
The Engineering Technician IV performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from the manager or government engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.
Performs One Or a Combination Of The Following- Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
- Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
- Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and records test data.
- Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
- Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
- Under general supervision, performs non‑routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for scoping, planning and estimating a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems.
- Provide engineering support to analyze and evaluate facilities work order requests for repair, maintenance and construction submitted by base/installation site building managers and tenants.
- Provide field level inspections, prepare reports, conduct surveys / inspections of site and buildings for project generation, maintain paper and electronic records, and prepare initial project scopes, descriptions, and justifications for necessary facility modifications.
