WAN Systems Engineer

Seeking a WAN Network Engineer with experience in operating complex WAN environments supporting networks running a variety of different routing and encryption protocols (BGP, LISP/GETVPN, IPSec) along with experience managing a Cisco centric WAN enterprise architecture. The ideal candidate would be well versed in various security platforms from multiple vendors including, but not limited to Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto, and F5.

The candidate will have a solid understanding of WAN enterprise networks and associated technologies (i.e. QoS, IP SLA, access list management, circuit actions and configuration management) to provide a secure, reliable, fault-tolerant network. The candidate will join a team of Engineers with the task of assessing network requirements, sustainment activities and implement approved network designs for the Defense Health Agency (DHA) MEDCOI enterprise.

Network certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or other vendor-based network certifications are required.

• Support circuit actions to include new activations, re-engineering, rehomes and circuit provision upgrades. Familiarity with using monitoring systems and tools for capacity planning
• Work with standards and design patterns / paradigms for system development within the team for implementation.
• Actively participate in the planning and implementation of network infrastructure and related software.
• Contribute to assessments of proposed system designs in response to business or technical drivers.
• Contribute to technical documentation including system design documentation, deployment/build plans, and test plans.
• Perform WAN troubleshooting assistance as reported and assigned from submitted trouble tickets.
• Have familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting systems/tools including Check
  
  MK, Live Action Solarwinds NMIS, Wireshark, Moba Xterm, Cisco CTC, Cisco Any connect client for remote access.

• Bachelor Degree desired.
• In-depth knowledge of routing technologies required.
• Experience with Cisco Network routers strongly desired.
• 10+ Years' experience working with complex WAN and LAN environments.
• 10+ Years' experience using routing and encryption protocols (BGP, OSPF, and IPSec).
• Solid understanding of enterprise networks and associated technologies.
• Experience with STIGs a plus
• Experience working with DISA a plus
• Experience with Cisco switches, Palo Alto and F5
• Work in a team centric environment and complete tasks assigned by team leads.
• CCNA, CCNP Certification required.
• 8570 Compliance Required.
• Secret Clearance Required.
