Job OverviewAs a member of this team, you will contribute to CDM Smith’s success by managing multiple task work orders with SCDOT and other clients, assisting with proposals and staffing projects, and performing analyses and engineering deliverables in transportation and traffic engineering.
Responsibilities- Act as Task Manager or Project Planner for multiple task work orders with SCDOT and other clients.
- Prepare proposals and staff projects.
- Conduct simulation and capacity analysis using Synchro/Sim Traffic, VISSIM, HCS, and SIDRA.
- Perform safety analysis using HSM methodologies and Safe Systems.
- Execute multimodal and transit analysis.
- Complete corridor, planning and environmental linkages, needs & deficiencies studies.
- Develop functional design and preliminary engineering reports.
- Assist with Intelligent Transportation Systems development.
- Address community traffic engineering and safety issues.
- Peer‑review traffic studies conducted by others.
- Design traffic signal and signal system plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban/Community/Regional Planning, or related discipline.
- Certification: AICP, PTP, PE, CEP or equivalent, or a Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 9 years with a Master’s; equivalent experience may substitute for a degree.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties.
- Technical expertise in traffic engineering, multimodal planning, and transportation systems analysis.
- Experience leading and managing large-scale transportation projects, ensuring quality deliverables.
- Strong analytical skills using transportation data to inform decisions.
- Proficiency with traffic signal design and control plans using Micro Station, AutoCAD, SignCAD, and AutoTURN.
- Knowledge of common software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
- Experience working with local, state, or federal transportation agencies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex technical information to clients, public officials, and the general public.
