Elementary French Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Elementary
French Teacher for the school year at an all-girl school in Charleston, SC.

• Teach French courses for students in grades PreK-1.
• Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students.
• Teach French language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational French and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
• Teaching students about French culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their French language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Early Childhood Education, or related required. Master’s degree preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in French required.
• At 5 years of previous K-12 teaching experience.
• Experience working with lower school students.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
• Experience with International Baccalaureate (IB) preferred.
• Previous independent school experience preferred.

Compensation and benefit packages are competitive but will differ by school and will typically depend on geographic location, your experience, and your level of degree.
