Education Coordinator - Seasonal

Location: Charleston Corps – Charleston, South Carolina

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time

Pay Rate: $18.87/hour

Directly accountable to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator, this role involves overseeing the overall program of The Community Center, including planning and implementing education programs and working with volunteers.

• Coordinate the education program and provide quality and effective services to participants to support the vision, mission, and goals of The Salvation Army Community Center.
• Plan programs for the Education Department, subject to approval by the Executive Director.
• Assist in recruiting and training staff and volunteers.
• Promote membership in the department and organize reading incentive and motivation programs.
• Prepare monthly statistical reports for the Executive Director.
• Collaborate with the Satellite Center of The Salvation Army Community Center After School Program.

• Evaluate department programs.
• Conduct initial visits to all schools represented at the Community Center.
• Develop individual student programs based on specific needs.
• Present programs to teachers.
• Train helpers in tutoring skills.
• Monitor students and helpers regularly, making necessary adjustments.
• Maintain data on school academics, behavior, and attendance.

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences, Education, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the necessary skills and knowledge.

Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements; capable of reading, writing, and communicating effectively in English.

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor recreation environments with minimal physical discomforts related to weather or environmental factors such as noise, dust, or dirt.
