Academic Courses:Mathematics Grades 5 through 8 (4-5 sections)*

Position and Qualifications SummaryAshley Hall School seeks an experienced full time mathematics teacher to join its middle school math faculty. The successful candidate must have experience teaching a variety of levels in mathematics. Though not a requirement, a strong teaching background in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme or training in IB methodology would be advantageous. The successful teacher candidate will have a love of learning and working with middle school students, placing them at the center of the learning experience.
The important work of the Ashley Hall Mathematics teacher is to engage students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) practices and applications through coursework that is challenging and that builds upon prerequisite skills and knowledge. The curriculum developed and taught is an opportunity to gain experience with various types of STEM applications and secure a strong foundation. Such an inspirational teacher must possess excellent pedagogical skills and knowledge of the subjects they are to teach.
At the core of the successful candidate’s instructional methodology is the ability to differentiate instruction so students of various levels can successfully access learning. Strong knowledge of and experience in teaching in the IB MYP curriculum framework preferred - A minimum of five (5) or more years teaching experience is preferred
- Commitment to ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
- Training in and/or experience with student-centered and experiential instruction
- Proficiency with developmentally-appropriate instructional strategies
- Lesson planning to meet curricular learning goals
- A proven record of collaborative teaching
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Provide regular feedback to students to guide learning and development
- Proactively communicate with students, parents, and administration about student progress or concerns
- Design course content and materials for classes while working within the Eureka Math curricular framework
- Create and administer lessons and assessments to gauge acquisition of core content competencies
- Provide regular office hours for students to get extra help and individual assistance
- Possess the flexibility and willingness to teach interdisciplinary courses
- Embrace a team-oriented academic environment where courses are taught with an emphasis on student engagement
- Exhibit a proficiency and demonstrated experience with subject relevant technologies that support instruction and student exploration.
- Be an exceptional self starter with a high degree of self management and the ability to take initiative while being in continuous communication and collaboration with department members and administration
- Act as a Middle School Advisor
Since its founding in 1909, Ashley Hall has empowered young women to think critically, act ethically, and embrace their world with confidence. The School serves girls kindergarten through grade 12 (and is co-ed in its Early School, ages 2 to 5 years). Ashley Hall provides a dynamic education grounded in a Reggio approach in its early School and an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in its Lower School.
It is currently in the strategic phase of a Middle Years Programme candidacy with the intention of pursuing Diploma Programme candidacy thereafter.
