Overview
Alpha School is seeking a Literacy Specialist to execute an AI-enhanced reading program. This is an on-site position located in Chantilly (Washington), VA;
San Francisco, CA; or New York City, NY. Weekly salary is $120,000, with full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one. Relocation assistance is provided.
- Leading adaptive reading workshops that build core competencies in phonics, fluency, and comprehension
- Creating personalized motivational experiences that engage students and foster a lasting passion for reading
- Reviewing student performance data to iteratively improve instruction and extract meaningful insights
- Partnering with the technology team to assess and refine AI-powered literacy platforms
- Following pre-packaged curricula or published instructional sequences
- Cultivate a genuine enthusiasm for reading in young students
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree in reading instruction or advanced certification in reading (e.g., Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, or equivalent)
- Minimum of 2 years delivering small-group reading interventions to early elementary learners
- Ability to evaluate reading levels, organize student groups, and create differentiated instruction independently of pre-written materials
- Experience with AI/adaptive learning platforms and ability to respond to student interactions within those systems
- Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship

Working with UsThis is a full-time (40 hours per week), long-term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record.
