Orthopaedic Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician – Department of Orthopaedics

The Department of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine is hiring a primary care sports medicine physician as a faculty member in our sports medicine division. This hire will serve and support all missions in the department with clinical, research, and teaching responsibilities. The primary care sports medicine physician will increase patient access to our orthopaedic patient population. Strategically, the provider will travel to our ambulatory and outreach clinics in South Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical care of orthopaedic patients in the sports medicine division.
  • Participation in research activities relevant to orthopaedics and sports medicine.
  • Teaching responsibilities including educating medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Increase patient access to orthopaedic care across the region.
  • Travel to ambulatory and outreach clinics in South Carolina.
Qualifications
  • M.D. or equivalent.
  • Robust clinical background with a sincere interest in education and research.
  • Education experience preferred.

  • Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches to floor level, unassisted (Infrequent).
  • Ability to push/pull objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted (Infrequent).
  • Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes (Continuous).
  • Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand (Continuous).
  • Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance (Frequent).
  • Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception (Continuous).
  • Good peripheral vision capabilities (Continuous).
  • Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction (Continuous).
  • Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements (Frequent).
