PurposeAssist in scheduling work for technicians and monitor a staff of designers/technicians. Responsible for originating and checking layout and design drawings for structural wood products and all items manufactured or supplied by the company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to safely and accurately complete structures with high quality.
- Assign work to technicians and ensure tasks are completed timely.
- Make recommendations on hires, promotions, terminations, and performance evaluations within the department to the Senior Team Leader.
- Maintain records of work performed and communicate project progress to management.
- Develop layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches.
- Communicate with building designers or professionals to clarify information on blueprints.
- Review and check drawings prepared by less experienced technicians and assist in modifications.
- Obtain and summarize information on products that have been field modified or damaged for evaluation.
- Analyze technical data to ensure designs meet specifications.
- Understand and apply building codes and industry issues.
- Analyze plans and diagrams to determine material and construction specifications.
- Write technical descriptions specifying material qualities.
- Prepare sketches or arrange for finished drawings or photographs.
- Prepare truss repair drawings for review and approval.
- Implement BFS panel design standards across the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Act as a team leader, directing the work of less-experienced technicians.
Minimum RequirementsAssociate's degree or equivalent; or 6 months to 1 year related experience/training; or equivalent combination.
Experience with Prime Cad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD required.
Competencies- Ability to interpret scientific, financial, and legal documents.
- Respond effectively to inquiries and complaints.
- Write speeches and articles in prescribed styles.
- Present information effectively to management and public groups.
- Work with mathematical concepts and apply practical ratios and percentages.
The physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in varied environments. Visual acuity and color recognition are required.
